What attracted you to this home?
Light. It’s one of the few things in a home you can’t change. It was so important to have a north-facing aspect for the main living areas. And the hinterland view.
How have you added your imprint?
Creating a neutral foundation - white walls and matte floors - was important before we one day make more extensive changes. The heart of the home was
here, it just needed to feel a little more like ‘us’.
What sustainable choices have you made?
I’m always conscious of what comes into our home – nothing that we don’t really love or need. Natural materials and timeless pieces that can live on beyond our lifetime. But the biggest changes have related to the garden -composting, growing our own veggies and taking the steps to harvest our grey water.
How do you decide what enters your home?
By asking three questions: Do I need it? Do I really love it? And will I still love it in 10 years’ time?
What do you love about your home?
That it is a calming space that holds all of the life, love and energy that comes from a family of six. And I am so grateful that our children have the freedom of two acres of space to explore and roam freely. That was a big part of the appeal too.
